This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Raheim Sanders, the No. 146 name on the board, stolen at the 191st pick.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. If Trapilo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
Mason Graham in No. 4 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in the 38th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had cheaper options than Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 5, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Marcus Mbow all the way to slot 91, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Hollin Pierce in pick No. 105; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Nick Nash at the 141st pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let a running back like Raheim Sanders reach pick 191 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jonas Sanker in pick No. 219 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
