It is the swing that defines the weekend: Parker Brailsford in pick 70, a good 47 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Daniels value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyleik Williams at pick 39 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Parker Brailsford in No. 70 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalon Daniels slid further than he should have, and the 106th pick is lovely value for the quarterback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Jamon Dumas-Johnson went about where he belonged in pick No. 142. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nazir Stackhouse at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
