They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Earnest Greene III, 59 picks early at Round 3, Pick 29. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
Singleton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
The Stutsman pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, James Pearce Jr. and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Derrick Harmon at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at the 39th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to slot 40, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Jake Majors in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Earnest Greene III in pick No. 93, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent pick 122 on Danny Stutsman, a linebacker they were not short of.
Somehow Nicholas Singleton was still sitting there in No. 146, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Truss at pick No. 212 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
