Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cardinals shredded theirs for Dayon Hayes. He came off 153 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Bond falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a green-dot type in the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Cameron Williams slid further than he should have, and No. 47 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking Isaiah Bond in Round 3, Pick 14 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cam Skattebo is a better player than pick 116 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dayon Hayes at the 153rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ty Hamilton in pick No. 211 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
