The Chiefs did not so much draft Cobee Bryant as overpay for him, 122 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Cobee Bryant at slot 63 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid up for Tate Ratledge at No. 66 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Kyren Lacy at pick No. 95, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Nazir Stackhouse in the 132nd pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
