The Ajani Cornelius pick is the one that will follow the Cardinals into the fall. They took him 85 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

They banked enough surplus on Higgins to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.18 · Pick 18 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 103
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ajani Cornelius this early at the 18th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Kenneth Grant · DL · rank 39
They read the board right and Kenneth Grant was the payoff at No. 49. It fills a real need, too.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 60
They robbed the room for Jason Marshall Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.18 · Pick 119 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 61
Somehow Jay Higgins was still sitting there in the 119th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.16 · Pick 154 · Conner Weigman · QB · rank 238
Conner Weigman at Round 5, Pick 16 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
