The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 118 name on the board, in the 236th pick.
The Morris reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a centerfielder for the defense, and a steal at that.
Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Tai Felton at the 79th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to pick No. 146, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Joshua Gray here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jeffrey Bassa in pick 236, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Micah Morris at slot 247 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
