The Cowboys ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A.
On value alone, Tracy Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Every board in the league had Hartman lower, and that gap is the story. The veteran additions, Calvin Ridley chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jarrian Jones and all.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 15: Jarrian Jones for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Tyrone Tracy Jr. at No. 173 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 174 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Julian Pearl in the 216th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Trevin Wallace in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Sam Hartman at pick 244, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
