Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Dolphins were there to profit. Quinshon Judkins, the No. 77 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 159. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The Rourke reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Dolphins indulged a want in Moore while a need in wide receiver and tight end stayed open.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Kenneth Grant · DL · rank 28
In No. 22 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 38
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Booker at Round 2, Pick 21 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Kurtis Rourke · QB · rank 140
A big swing on Kurtis Rourke at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 75
Taking Andrew Mukuba in pick 98 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Jake Majors · C · rank 97
Jake Majors in pick No. 99 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.36 · Pick 100 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 76
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 100th overall pick on Malachi Moore with wide receiver and tight end unsolved.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 114
Luke Kandra at the 116th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · Jared Ivey · DE · rank 83
They barely believed it either: Jared Ivey still on the board at slot 120. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Mansoor Delane · CB · rank 144
Value said wait; Mansoor Delane in the 125th pick says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.13 · Pick 151 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 87
Barrett Carter at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.21 · Pick 159 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 77
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at the 159th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · DJ Campbell · OG · rank 217
A swing that ignored the value entirely, DJ Campbell well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
