It is the swing that defines the weekend: Myles Hinton in pick 232, a good 93 spots before the room expected him.
That Mondon Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Dolphins indulged a want in Moore while a need in quarterback and edge rusher stayed open.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a load in the middle, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Alfred Collins at the 48th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in slot 98, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Fair-plus on Elic Ayomanor, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Malachi Moore adds a safety and leaves quarterback and edge rusher untouched.
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Smael Mondon Jr. was still sitting there in the 156th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Javontez Spraggins well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Myles Hinton. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jackson Hawes in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
