The Myles Hinton selection is the head-turner. The Dolphins reached 93 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Mondon Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback and edge rusher went begging.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Alfred Collins at pick 48 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Andrew Mukuba at the 98th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Malachi Moore at safety with quarterback and edge rusher open.
A straight-up fair deal on Kyren Lacy at No. 115, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at Round 5, Pick 11 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 156 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Javontez Spraggins in the 223rd pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Myles Hinton in No. 232 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Jackson Hawes here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
