The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Myles Hinton, 81 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
Landing Neal that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. It is not that Moore is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They jumped the gun on Alfred Collins, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andrew Mukuba at pick 98 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Malachi Moore in the Round 3 slot leaves quarterback and edge rusher for later.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 115 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Devin Neal here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jackson Hawes in the 224th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javontez Spraggins at pick 231 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Myles Hinton at Round 7, Pick 35 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
