When a board-topper like Rylie Mills slides to slot 193, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They are betting Prieskorn proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
Emery Jones at No. 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kenneth Grant in Round 2, Pick 32 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tre Harris in pick 69 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Ashton Gillotte at pick No. 90 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Sonny Styles come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Caden Prieskorn in slot 128 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Terrence Ferguson II. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Rylie Mills at the 193rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
