Everything else got attention, and offensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Cardinals to leave a draft.
Smith at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A clean fit for the roster.
Jason Marshall Jr. at pick No. 39 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Miller Moss at the 70th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Donovan Smith at pick 106 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Elic Ayomanor in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Hunter Wohler slipping to No. 178 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
