You could see the war room lean forward. Dae'Quan Wright at the 209th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. It is not that Styles is a bad player; it is that the Commanders had louder needs to answer first.
Reaching for Stewart left real value on the table behind him. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get a green-dot type in the middle. Need was not the driver here.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 26 on Sonny Styles with cornerback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
They read the board right and Jake Slaughter was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Zxavian Harris in pick No. 147; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Josh Cameron in Round 6, Pick 6, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a tight end like Dae'Quan Wright reach slot 209 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Terion Stewart in pick 223, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
