Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Deontae Lawson, the No. 84 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot.
Reaching for Ersery left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Hit on Aireontae Ersery and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 17 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Mikail Kamara at Round 2, Pick 16 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Carson Beck at pick 81, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Rylie Mills at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Deontae Lawson at slot 152 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
