You could see the war room lean forward. RJ Harvey at Round 7, Pick 1 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Tate Ratledge in pick 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Maxwell Hairston at Round 3, Pick 13 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Andrew Mukuba at the 105th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Hollin Pierce in slot 145 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow RJ Harvey was still sitting there in pick No. 219, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Quincy Riley at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
You do not let a wide receiver like Kyle Williams reach the 240th pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
