Thirty-one other rooms let Dylan Sampson slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at pick 146. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cost of the Strong reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid up for Denzel Burke at slot 79 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dorian Strong this early at No. 122. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Dylan Sampson was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Cody Simon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Xavier Truss in pick 236 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Micah Morris in the 247th overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
