The Cowboys torched the value chart for Barryn Sorrell, taking him 111 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Ransom at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a workhorse for the backfield, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They reached a country mile for Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 28, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Maxwell Hairston in the 76th pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Oronde Gadsden II in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kyle McCord at the 149th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in pick 171 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Lathan Ransom was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A slide stopped in the 191st overall pick, with Nohl Williams worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Raheim Sanders at pick 197 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Barryn Sorrell at Round 6, Pick 28 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 211th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
