Call it larceny. Smael Mondon Jr. sat on the board until pick No. 209, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Powell-Ryland reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Derrick Harmon higher than pick 44, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the 76th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Danny Stutsman in Round 5, Pick 11 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Addison West at the 168th pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Nicholas Singleton in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tonka Hemingway at pick No. 187 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 209, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Tim Smith in No. 247 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
