Somebody in pick 237 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Nicholas Singleton, the No. 99 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Morrison left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a potential shutdown corner, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They will replay Jonah Savaiinaea at Round 2, Pick 24 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Jalen Royals reach pick 88 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Charles Grant in No. 89, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 125 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Majors in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tory Horton in the 163rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tight end of that caliber at the 180th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to Round 6, Pick 24, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Nicholas Singleton in the 237th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jonah Monheim in No. 250, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
