When a board-topper like Jalon Walker slides to Round 3, Pick 30, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Tyleik Williams worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jermari Harris. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalon Walker in the 94th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Taking Jake Majors in pick No. 125 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tommi Hill at No. 159 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cobee Bryant at Round 6, Pick 24 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jonah Monheim in slot 237 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Garrett Dellinger at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
