You build a draft on nights like this. Sonny Styles had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Howard pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Will Howard this early at Round 2, Pick 24. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 94 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Logan Brown in pick 97, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Mason Taylor at slot 133 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They took Dont'e Thornton Jr. at par in the 170th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach for Seth McLaughlin in the 199th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Sonny Styles in slot 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Jared Wilson at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Jonah Monheim in pick No. 250 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 256th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
