The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Jihaad Campbell slide 48 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Reaching for Smith left real value on the table behind him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid up for Jalen Royals at No. 56 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 24 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 125 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Daylen Everette here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Tosh Baker at the 199th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Jonah Monheim in pick 237 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tim Smith in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
