Call it larceny. Keon Sabb sat on the board until No. 173, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They are betting Badger proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 98; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malachi Moore at Round 3, Pick 35 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy little value on Oronde Gadsden II in No. 136, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to the 149th pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Willie Lampkin at slot 156 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Elijhah Badger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Garrett Dellinger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Trevor Etienne at pick No. 251 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
