Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys robbed the room for Judkins. Final grade: B.

The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Quinshon Judkins fell into slot 173. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Every board in the league had Uiagalelei lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Mike Green · DE-EDGE · rank 18
In pick No. 12 they get a bendy edge with upside. More want than need.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 67
They went early on Deone Walker in Round 2, Pick 19, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 20
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in slot 120, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Pat Bryant · WR · rank 146
No drama and no debate, Pat Bryant went about where he belonged in pick 148. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Ty Robinson · DL · rank 169
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ty Robinson. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 115
Luke Kandra at the 170th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 70
Circle this one: Quinshon Judkins at No. 173 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Jahvaree Ritzie · DL · rank 245
Jahvaree Ritzie in the 186th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Tonka Hemingway · DT · rank 239
Tonka Hemingway in Round 6, Pick 14 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · DJ Uiagalelei · QB · rank 275
DJ Uiagalelei at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Amari Kight · OT · rank 266
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Amari Kight. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Brennan Presley · WR · rank 279
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brennan Presley this early at No. 248. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
