Dallas Cowboys

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cowboys.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Quinn Ewers a full 48 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Alexander at that price is a win they earned. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · James Pearce Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 7
In No. 12 they get juice off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Quinn Ewers · QB · rank 92
They talked themselves into Quinn Ewers at pick No. 44, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 66
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Quinshon Judkins in the 76th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 110
You do not let a wide receiver like Tory Horton reach pick 150 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Darius Alexander · DT · rank 126
Darius Alexander at slot 170 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Kobe King · LB · rank 130
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Kobe King in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · RJ Harvey · RB · rank 159
They let RJ Harvey come to them and pounced at pick 174. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Nazir Stackhouse · DL · rank 193
A straight-up fair deal on Nazir Stackhouse at Round 6, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Alijah Huzzie · CB · rank 201
Alijah Huzzie at the 211th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Torricelli Simpkins III · OG · rank 247
Torricelli Simpkins III at pick No. 249 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
