The Packers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
Reiger has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Delp.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Christian Gonzalez deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Antonio Williams in pick No. 92 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mason Reiger this early at Round 4, Pick 20. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Justin Joly at No. 126 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Albert Regis. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Oscar Delp still on the board at the 160th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Demond Claiborne in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Red Murdock in slot 201, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nothing to complain about; TJ Hall went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Alan Herron at the 255th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
