The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Thor Griffith, taking him 67 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The Nwankpa pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a press-man option on the boundary, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had Kenneth Grant higher than pick 35, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Danny Stutsman went about where he belonged in the 88th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
By-the-book stuff, Billy Bowman Jr. at the 107th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Nicholas Singleton in slot 125, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Davison Igbinosun at Round 5, Pick 22, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Thor Griffith at No. 199 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Xavier Nwankpa was still sitting there in slot 241, and they pounced on premier safety value. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A straight-up fair deal on Oscar Delp at Round 7, Pick 34, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
