The Packers went off the board in a big way for Thor Griffith, 95 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
However the rest shakes out, Singleton at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a lockdown presence outside, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 10 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a linebacker like Jihaad Campbell reach No. 90 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Billy Bowman Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A want over a need in the 110th overall pick: Danny Stutsman adds a linebacker while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Nothing to complain about; Daylen Everette went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Nicholas Singleton still on the board at No. 168. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Thor Griffith at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
