Green Bay Packers

The Packers robbed the room for Singleton. Final grade: C.

The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, sitting there at the 199th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.

The Evans reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

Hit on Benjamin Morrison and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Benjamin Morrison · CB · rank 47
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 85
They talked themselves into Donovan Jackson at slot 56, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 54
Tyleik Williams is a better player than pick 62 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 138
Jason Marshall Jr. at the 98th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.10 · Pick 111 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 86
Danny Stutsman at pick No. 111 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.14 · Pick 115 · Billy Bowman Jr. · S · rank 112
Billy Bowman Jr. at Round 4, Pick 14 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 130
Domani Jackson in No. 125 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.27 · Pick 128 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Jake Majors in the 128th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.22 · Pick 159 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 126
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in slot 159, and they pounced on premier safety value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 100
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.21 · Pick 237 · Mitchell Evans · TE · rank 318
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mitchell Evans in Round 7, Pick 21, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
R7.34 · Pick 250 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 277
Thor Griffith in pick No. 250 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
