The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 136 spots for Thor Griffith, and value like that does not grow back. There is no dressing it up: a F.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Stutsman. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Benjamin Morrison at pick 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Donovan Jackson in the 62nd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Savion Williams at the 90th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid a round early for Billy Bowman Jr. in pick No. 98, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They talked themselves into Daylen Everette at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Danny Stutsman in slot 125 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at Round 4, Pick 28. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Thor Griffith at No. 141 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Sonny Styles at the 159th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
