The Browns lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Jones pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Adding TreVeyon Henderson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. They are betting Nowakowski proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Brandon Cisse in the 39th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Germie Bernard come to them and pounced at pick 70. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Skyler Bell at slot 95 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Logan Jones is a better player than Round 4, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dametrious Crownover in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Skyler Gill-Howard in pick No. 149 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Riley Nowakowski at the 206th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Desmond Reid at par in pick 248, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
