The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Isaiah Jatta, 48 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Everette falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at No. 63. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Daylen Everette in the 95th pick, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
De'Zhaun Stribling in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Nadame Tucker at slot 131, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Dallen Bentley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Isaiah Jatta in pick 191 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kaelon Black at the 198th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Trey Zuhn III in Round 6, Pick 21 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Miles Kitselman in slot 212 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Desmond Reid in No. 247 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
