The Broncos spent real capital to be 80 picks early on Marvin Jones Jr., and the board is going to hold them to it. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Orange at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They barely believed it either: Anthony Hill Jr. still on the board at Round 2, Pick 30. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Domonique Orange at No. 108 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let Genesis Smith come to them and pounced at pick No. 111. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Marlin Klein at the 170th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dane Key at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Trey Zuhn III slid further than he should have, and pick 256 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Marvin Jones Jr. in the 257th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
