The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Buccaneers reached some 32 spots for Max Klare, and value like that does not grow back.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Trotter pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 15 they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all.
Max Klare at Round 2, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Josiah Trotter at the 77th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a cornerback like Treydan Stukes reach pick 116 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Kage Casey in pick No. 155, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Justin Jefferson at the 195th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They robbed the room for Harrison Wallace III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
