The Jets lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
The cost of the Graves reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Kitselman falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 16 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Lee Hunter a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Gennings Dunker went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 12. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Taaffe at No. 67 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Logan Jones in the 103rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Beau Stephens in pick No. 140 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Aaron Graves at the 179th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lander Barton. A minor itch, scratched.
Miles Kitselman at slot 242 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
