Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Caden Curry at the 94th pick is 37 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Bell in pick No. 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Jake Slaughter worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Caden Curry in slot 94, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Keylan Rutledge a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Louis Moore well ahead of where he belonged. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Beau Stephens at the 144th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Pat Coogan enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Red Murdock at Round 6, Pick 13, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Lander Barton at pick No. 225 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
