Some picks age like wine; Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 197 will need to, sitting 46 spots clear of his grade.
That Taaffe pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a go-to option on the outside, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Dani Dennis-Sutton at pick No. 54 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Eli Stowers at the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Michael Taaffe at the 98th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Malik Muhammad at the 114th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dametrious Crownover in No. 137 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaeden Roberts at the 153rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Taylen Green in pick No. 178; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Trey Zuhn III at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
