The Packers bet big and early on Bryce Foster, 50 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Lance falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Romello Height at pick 52 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Mike Washington Jr. at par in pick No. 77, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Bryce Lance all the way to the 120th pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Charles Demmings higher than slot 160, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in No. 201, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Alan Herron in the 236th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalon Daniels. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
