The phones were a trap the Packers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
They will need Proctor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in the 43rd pick, where Chris Johnson graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Germie Bernard at No. 84 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kaleb Proctor in Round 4, Pick 9 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Jude Bowry, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
Seth McGowan in the 160th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sawyer Robertson at pick 201 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Vinny Anthony II at the 236th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Miller Moss at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
