There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bills started one anyway for Squirrel White, 226 picks ahead of schedule. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Getting McAlister where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
A real head-scratcher, Mikail Kamara in No. 91 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; DJ Harvey in slot 126 says they were not listening. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Zach Rice at pick 165 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Lander Barton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Squirrel White in the Round 6 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 4, where Eric McAlister graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
