The Chiefs spent real capital to be 302 picks early on Raymond Cottrell, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Getting Jacas where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get a wrecking ball inside, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Raymond Cottrell well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Jaydn Ott in slot 74, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Kalil Alexander in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
