Call it larceny. David Bailey sat on the board until pick 178, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice.
Hodge has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get juice off the edge, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Caleb Banks in pick No. 54 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Zakee Wheatley graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a wide receiver like Carnell Tate reach No. 114 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Quintayvious Hutchins at the 137th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: David Bailey still on the board at pick 178. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 197 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Preston Hodge at Round 7, Pick 18 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
