The Giants went off the board in a big way for Rodrick Pleasant, 463 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.
However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a potential shutdown corner, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 10 they get a press-man option on the boundary, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
A real head-scratcher, Caleb Tiernan in the 37th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Cyrus Allen, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Malachi Lawrence was still sitting there in slot 145, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Jerand Bradley in Round 6, Pick 5, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Parker Brailsford at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Jonah Coleman still on the board at pick 193. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
