There is reaching, and then there is Jared Brown at No. 174. The Ravens jumped the board by 287 and dared it to prove them wrong.
Harris falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a weapon on the perimeter, reach and all.
Emmanuel Pregnon at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Jude Bowry, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Daylen Everette in the 115th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Skyler Gill-Howard in pick 154, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Jamal Haynes in pick No. 162 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Dasan McCullough at pick 173, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jared Brown at pick No. 174 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 211 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Jalon Daniels at Round 7, Pick 34, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Jadon Canady still on the board at the 253rd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
