Some picks age like wine; Trey Holly at the Round 1 slot will need to, sitting 306 spots clear of his grade. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Sarratt pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
A big swing on Trey Holly at the 18th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jerry Wilson in slot 49 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Josiah Trotter worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Max Klare, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Elijah Sarratt in pick No. 97, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Domani Jackson at the 163rd overall pick, and it noticed. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They reached into another round for Madden Sanker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Miles Kitselman at par in No. 235, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Branson Robinson at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
