The Dolphins spent real capital to be 25 picks early on Eli Raridon, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. It is not that Scott is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first.
The Mike McGlinchey deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
In No. 23 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 43 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Christen Miller at the 62nd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A surprising call. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent the 68th overall pick on Keionte Scott, a cornerback they were not short of.
Skyler Bell at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ted Hurst in No. 87 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalen Farmer in slot 98 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Eli Raridon in pick 112 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
