There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bears started one anyway for Anthony Lucas, 47 picks ahead of schedule. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Landing Hall that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They talked themselves into Anthony Lucas at slot 57, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Dani Dennis-Sutton in No. 60 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Keylan Rutledge in pick 89, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, J.C. Davis went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, TJ Hall in Round 7, Pick 23, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zavion Thomas in the 241st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
