Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jake Golday got past him. The Cardinals do not have to explain a thing at Round 4, Pick 4.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Denzel Boston at pick No. 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let A.J. Haulcy come to them and pounced at No. 65. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jake Golday at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Hezekiah Masses in pick 143, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy little value on DJ Campbell in the 183rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dallen Bentley in slot 217 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
